Wolves are set to offer one of their stars a new deal in a bid to stop Liverpool swooping for the player.

The Reds are going to be active in the market this summer, and Wolves are among the clubs Liverpool are looking at for new recruits.

Plenty is been said about Liverpool’s summer window with reports claiming that Arne Slot will be backed in the summer window.

The Dutchman is yet to put his imprint on the team in terms of personnel, with the pursuit of Martin Zubimendi showcasing that he has his own profiles in mind.

Captain Virgil van Dijk confirmed expectations of a “big summer”, emphasising the club’s intent to “challenge for titles in the upcoming years” amid plans to refresh the roster.

Earlier this year, Slot himself revealed that a club like Liverpool always needed to be competitive.

As such, there will be a need for additions that will make the club better in the summer.

However, it appears that Wolves are prepared to do everything possible to ensure they will not contribute any players to the Liverpool summer project.

The club’s duo Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri are among the stars linked with a possible summer switch to Liverpool.

The Brazilian striker was tentatively named as a possible attacking addition and a potential replacement for Darwin Nunez.

But he is reportedly close to a move to Manchester United.

Elsewhere, Rayan Ait-Nouri was being considered as a long-term signing for the left-back position?

He was linked with a move to Anfield last summer and still features among the players Liverpool are currently considering to sign for the left-back position.

However, Wolves are now prepared to offer Ait-Nouri a new contract to ward off interest from interested clubs.  This is according to The Telegraph, who claim that Wolves are expected to discuss an improved deal with the Algerian ahead of the next campaign.

“Wolverhampton Wanderers are preparing to offer £ 50 million-rated Rayan Ait-Nouri a new contract as they plan for a pivotal summer under Vitor Pereira,” The Telegraph said.

“The Algeria international has been scouted frequently by Liverpool and Manchester City in recent seasons, but Wolves are expected to discuss an improved deal ahead of the next campaign.

“…Wolves regard Ait-Nouri as a key player in their future and are determined to retain the core of their squad,” and they envisage him “extending his stay at Molineux and are hopeful that an agreement can be reached before pre-season.”

The report also revealed that “Ait-Nouri has two years left on his current deal and the Wolves hierarchy are ready to reward him for his performances and progress” this season.

Ait-Nouri has made 35 appearances for Wolves this season, scoring five goals and registering seven assists.
